Today, tomorrow, together for public health – Celebrating 60 years of excellence in public health protection
On 11 and 12 June 2024, the EDQM celebrated its 60th anniversary with an international conference, held in the Palais de l’Europe, the Council of Europe headquarters. Around 450 people joined us in confirming our continued commitment to protecting public health. Prestigious speakers from all over the world and renowned guests came together to discuss the challenges we are currently facing and opportunities that lie ahead. Representing a broad cross-section of stakeholders – national authorities, international organisations, industry, academia, professional bodies and patient, donor and consumer associations – they shared their expertise, valuable perspectives and insights into the forces that shape public health today and how we can harness them to improve access to better healthcare by working together.
More than just a conference, the #EDQM60 event was an experience, filled with thought-provoking presentations and discussions and touching patient testimonies, featuring a historical exhibition in the Palais de l’Europe and animated by an active and engaged audience. It was a moment of celebration and togetherness for better health, for all.
Overview
The conference was moderated by Dr Sarah-Taïssir Bencharif, a Brussels-based physician and health journalist. Her lively and engaging style helped create a welcoming atmosphere, where participants could engage on topics of great importance. Despite the scientific nature and human gravity of some discussions, she fostered a constant feeling of togetherness and hope.
