EDQM Open Day
The EDQM opened its doors to the public for an afternoon of fun and discovery for all at its Strasbourg headquarters. Organised as part of the EDQM’s 60th anniversary celebrations, this was the second time since its founding that the public has been invited to discover what goes on behind the scenes of a European organisation working to protect public health.

Building bridges with the local community
The EDQM opened its doors on 16 June 2024 for an afternoon of fun, learning and discovery. This beautiful Sunday afternoon was a rare opportunity for the uninitiated to get a peek behind the scenes at the international systems and safeguards set up to protect public health and meet some of the dedicated people putting their expertise to good use for the benefit of all. Over 1 300 people attended, showing how curious and engaged our local community is!
We prepared games and learning activities for visitors of all ages, with information available in French and English. Our team is international, so Strasbourg’s cosmopolitan community was able to ask questions in other languages too. The ice cream stand was a big hit, but among all the fun our guests learned about safe medicines, blood transfusion, organ, tissue and cell donation and transplantation and cosmetics, to name just a few.
Celebrating better health for all, together
The visitor experience of about one hour was structured around four thematic areas.
The EDQM since 1964 – A chance to discover our history with an exhibition and a video projection.
The EDQM today – An opportunity to meet us at information stands (medicines, blood donation, tissue, cell and organ transplantation, cosmetics and other health products, etc.).
The EDQM and tomorrow’s challenges and opportunities – Enabling visitors to discover our perspectives through videos.
The EDQM and its partners, working together internationally – A chance to learn more about the importance of collaboration to advance “better health, for all”.
